For the past week I’ve been putting ‘money in the bank’… and its got nothing to do with cash. This is a term we athletes use to describe some of the rebuilding phases of our training.
Stratton Mt. School
Since I returned home from my grandparents house for Christmas I’ve been back in Vermont putting in a small volume building phase. For world cup athletes the season is long, starting in October and stretching all the way into the last week in march. With all the traveling and racing involved in the world cup tour it’s virtually impossible to maintain the kind of distance training we put in during the other months of the year. In order to keep racing fast throughout the whole season it’s important to find times during the winter months to build your training back up again… so that by the time March comes around we’re not too burnt out. puttin’ money in the bank!
Stratton Gym
So with these two weeks home and the US National races next week, this was a good time for me to try to get some training in. My coaches and I kept it pretty low key…. after all I don’t want to be tired for next weeks races in Ho-town… but still tried to focus on some distance training. I’ve been putting in a lot of k’s at my home ski area Prospect most days, but have also had a few good striding days at wild wings in Peru. The Stratton Mt. School training facilities are world class, giving me a great place for strength workouts and plyo’s. Here’s what the training for the past week has looked like. I’m heading out to watch the Patriots game with the guys. Whap it!!!
