Just a quick shout out from Canmore. I arrived here on Wednesday after an early morning travel from home, but all in all it was an easy travel day. It almost feels a little weird to only travel for half a day to get to a world cup. For the past few days we’ve been getting to know the race trails and acclimating to the slight increase in altitude.pandl.jpgOur first two days of training here were on the easy side, but today Cook, Torin, and I did some hard intervals around the classic sprint course. Despite the several inches of new snow over the past few days the tracks have been firm around the race trails. All three of our wax techs. came in two days ago from Europe so we have been taking advantage of having them here and trying to dial in some fast race skis for next week. can.jpg
Larry, Pete, and Oleg talk about skisWe’re not putting in too many hours before these races so we’ve had a lot of off time. Each afternoon we’ve been heading into town and checking out a different coffee shop. I also brought the play station with me on this leg of world cup so it’s been funny to see the coaches getting into the race car games. I think GTA is the team favorite though. My parents and grandparents are flying in tomorrow so it will be great to hang with them before the races.  We’re all pretty fired up to be  able to race so close to home.

    Hi Andy,
Just wanted to say how much I appreciate you taking the time to do this blog. It’s fun and insightful and surely will help to inspire the younger skiers out there. FYI..I’m a former MAU XC ski coach from the late 80s. I live in North Carolina now and get to ski only a few times a year, but I still love the sport. Was at Prospect this past weekend. What a treat. Say hi to your dad for me. But most importantly Good Luck the rest of the season!
    Cheers,
    Jim Rogalski
