The world cup racing is over here in canmore but our work isn’t done here yet. we will be staying in Canmore for another 3 days of training before heading across the pond to Estonia. This past week was thrilling, disappointing, and motivating all in one. It was the our goal on the US Ski team to have at least one podium during these races so I think we were all a little let down with some of our results. Despite some inconsistent results there were some bright moments throughout the week including Kikkan’s 8th and Kuzzy’s 9th in the skate sprint.
It was rad to see Kuzzy score his first world cup points in a big way. He showed no fear going up against the big dogs in the sprint world… which not only gets the whole team fired up but shows the rest of the world that we have some good depth and the US sprinters are a true force.
Having depth on a sprint team is an asset that usually only the larger teams like Norway and Sweden can enjoy. So to see us heading in that direction is great sign. Sprinting can be an a very unpredictable event so then other skiers can step up when others have a bad day it shows the true strength of the team.
The crowds came out for the skate sprint. here’s a pic of some Kikanimal fans.

We are going to be training in Canmore until Thursday and then it’s over to Estonia. Today is an off day and then tomorrow we have some intervals and strength planned. it’s -35 up here today so its a good thing we have the day off. sorry for the quick update but i need to jet.

Yeah, it was cold as hell doing that for four heats. We’d have spelled “Newell” if we had run into you at some point!
