It took just about 30 hours, but we made it to Otepaa in one piece. We flew from Canmore to Chicago where we met up with Justin, Pete, and Kris for the flight over to Stockholm. As usual Chicago was a complete sh^%t show so we ended up sitting on the plane for over an hour while they de-iced and plowed the runways. Because of our delayed departure from Chicago we had to run to our gate in Stockholm but inevitably missed our flight to Estonia. It was only 8:30 in the morning and the next flight wasn’t scheduled to leave until after 2 in the afternoon. With several hours to kill…. and to try to stay awake… we took the train from the airport to downtown. It’s a pretty sick set up they have there in Stockholm. All you have to do is walk down some stairs from the terminal, hop on a train, and you can be in downtown Stockholm in 20 minutes.0.jpg
We walked from the train station to the old part of the city so we could hang out around the royal palace and hit up some good coffee shops. Something you may not know… is that Chris Cook is a Euro jeans expert and knew exactly where the Replay blue jeans store was so we cruised through the fashion district. We were looking pretty haggard from traveling for 2 days so im actually surprised they let us in a shop that sold 500 dollar jeans.

We finally made it to Estonia by about 4 o’clock and to add to our late travels snow was coming down hard making the roads pretty sketchy. Our driver was hammering down the road too. I drive pretty fast and it takes a lot to freak me out… but this guy was out of control. We made it to our ‘bunker’ by 8 or so and I was so blown out that I had to basically head strait to bed. Check out the hotel at the beginning and you’ll see why we call this place the bunker.
Today was an easy training day and we were able to head out after skiing and watch the J1 race. We have a bunch of US skiers here and it was cool to arrive here last night and see some American faces. There are racers from a lot of different countries here and it looked like our skiers were holding their own. Unfortunately I missed the girls races, but I was able to catch some video of the guys. These are the races we had out there today.
