The rain was coming down hard today here in Otepaa making it a tough, wet, battle of a sprint race. I felt good today. Better than I did two weeks ago in Canmore but unfortunately I couldn’t bring home any results to prove that. I felt like I got my snappy sprint legs back, which seamed to be the thing lacking for me during the Canmore races.

During the qualifier there was a good mix of double-polers and striders making up the top 15 spots. There was a pretty big hill right out of the start that was fore sure faster to stride… but the last 200 meters of the race were a strait gradual downhill double-pole so skate skis could come in handy in the end.

During the heats most people who went without wax to start the day had switched back to classic skis except for few. Those who didn’t… like Hetland and Ness had trouble making it out of the first round.

My heat went well until the end…. a sprinters last words. I felt comfortable striding and leading the entire heat but in the last 150 meters I dropped big time. Looking back on it I feel like I could have done a better job of dodging the puddles in the finishing stretch.

the beginning of the end for me today….
It was a long wet day in the rain for the waxers…. but they still did a great job. Larry looking tired.

We’re in a tough spot right now because there’s not really any snow left here after today’s rain and there isn”t any snow in Czech for next weeks races either. the tracks will Open there on thursday so we’ll fly there in time to get on the courses and get ready for next weekends races.
