for me the Tour de ski is over today. I really wanted to race stage 6, which is a point to point race here in Italy, but sometimes what is going to be the most fun isn’t always the right choice. So we decided it was best to look toward the next world cup weekend in Czech instead of pushing through. there seems to be a lot of sickness going around among the other teams, so playing it safe is sometimes the way to go. Although my performance on the tour wasn’t everything I had hoped it would be it was still a productive week with two decent sprints and a top 15 in Stage 1. Although my sprinting seems to be where it should be, I’m somehow missing something in the distance races which is frustrating. so I think it makes sense to re-think the distance formula and tweak some training and look toward the rest of the world cup season instead of pushing through the last races of the tour. I think it will only take some small changes to make it click, so I’m already looking forward to training for the next distance races before Oslo.
here is a quick video thaT FIS put up from yesterday… gives a little look at what goes on at the Tour. best of luck to bird and kikkan and the rest of our buddies still racing the tour!
