With a full week of training behind me here in Park City I’ve been having a great time working out with buddies, catching up with friends, and enjoying the simple pleasures of being in the USA. You just can’t get good Mexican food in Europe like you can here. So I’ve been enjoying that and getting is a lot of quality training in some of the most epic weather I’ve seen all year. We had about one day of hard snow in the beginning of the week and since then it’s been blue bird and sunny every day.
Ben Sim of Australia is also in town training before worlds so we have been meeting up for some workouts along with some of the Nordic Combined crew. I even got Billy D out on the classic boards yesterday for an incredible 3 hour ski at round valley.
With a three week break from world cup racing I’ve been able to hit the gym a lot with our strength coach Alex so there’s been no lack of sore muscles either making all the hard intervals I’ve been doing that much harder. But in a way this last week of preparation is the last week of real training in the entire year before it’s all down to recovery and racing fast. So thats whats going through my mind when I’m pushing through the level 4 and all out sprint intervals.
With 6 more days left in Park City we are going to start it off with a distance time trial at Soho on Monday and few more quality sessions mid week before tapering it down to fly to Norway on Sunday. I’m pretty excited to get back to racing in Europe especially having such a productive training block here in PC. Nothing like going back to Europe with a sweet goggle tan and a belly full of burritos to get you racing fast.
