Now that the Tour de ski is over we can now start looking forward to the next block of world cups and getting back into weekend racing. For me the tour was both sweet to watch because liz and kikkan were kicking so much ass, but also hard to be around because it was so frustrating to be around so much racing and not at the start line. After having a really heathy fall and early winter I managed to start getting a cold on the first day of the Tour. Although the prologue went ok I started feeling much worse the next day during the distance classic race and continued on a downward slide for the sprint race in Obertsdorf. Turns out it’s pretty hard to fight a sickness when you’re racing every day. So it was hard to leave the Tour but sometimes thats just the way it goes. There is a lot of racing to go during this middle World Cup period and I’m really looking forward to a few races… starting with this weekends sprints in downtown Milan.
to kill a few days of training here in Italy we took a short drive from Val de Fiemme over to Seiser Alm to get in some sweet skiing. It’s a pretty incredible scene here with huge mountains, alpine skiing, and tons of xc trails. we even had to be driven in on a snow cat to get up to where our hotel was on the slopes. but so far there has been some great sun and sweet views during some of our ski sessions. check the pics.
