As the season heads towards the final stretch, the trend in results remains the same. A fun Notchview course, coupled with clear, blue skies, provided quite the atmosphere for the racers competing in their third straight classic race. On the boys’ side of things Mt Greylock’s Josh Harrington came away with his third victory, narrowly edging out teammate Matt Cheung by one second. If it weren’t for an untimely fall before the final climb, teammate Luke Costley was in position to rearrange the podium and possibly take the victory. Unfortunately for Costley, the fall cost him some precious seconds and he fell into a third place tie with fellow Mountie Greg Karabinos. Northfield Mount Hermon’s Miles Schelling edged out Greylock’s Alex White to break up any hope the Mounties had of taking the top five spots for the second straight week.

Mackenzie Hitchcock (MG) leads the second wave out on course on her way to a four second vicotry over teammate Cate Costley.
In the girls’ race, Mackenzie Hitchcock of Mt. Greylock prevailed in her second league race in two weeks with a time of 20:38, four seconds faster than teammate Cate Costley. Over a minute behind the two leaders was third place finisher Josie Marshall out of Lenox, Northfield Mount Hermon’s Nora Heffner, and Mohawk’s Brenna Keogh. Rounding out the top ten for the girls was a slew of Mounties, as they once again took home the team victory.
The boys’ JV race winner was Greylock’s Sean Houston in a time of 20:10, a time which would have been fast enough to finish tenth in the varsity boys race. He was followed by teammates Warren Taylor, John Karabinos, and Jonah Majumder.
For the girls’ JV, Chloe Anderson gapped her Greylock counterpart from the first wave, Sophia Dastoli, on the final climb ski to the win in a time of 24:58. Anderson’s time would have been good enough for 12th place in the varsity girls race. Fellow Greylock skiers Zavi Sheldon, Oona Wood and Sophie Gerry took places third, fourth and fifth respectively.
