RUMFORD, Maine — Jessie Diggins (CXC/USST) extended her lead over Ida Sargent (CGRP/USST) on the last of six 3.26 k laps, cruising comfortably into the stadium on a long downhill for her third straight victory of this year’s U.S. Cross Country Championships. She has won every 2012 national race (freestyle sprint, freestyle 10 k, and freestyle mass start) to date.
Sargent was second, followed by Jennie Bender (CXC), who beat Dasha Gaiazova (RMR/CNST) for third. After Gaiazova, Kate Fitzgerald (APU) was fifth.
