Summer Focus.

Fresh off a training camp from Park City, UT, I am heading into summer more focused and healthy than I have ever been in the past. It was really fun to return to Park City and see my friends from last summer when I was out there as well as runiting with some of my closest ski friends. The training camp was focused on building a foundation for athletic movement; this means correct technique, and more importantly, efficient body movements…no “leaking energy” as my strength coach Tschana told me. Tschana lead us through various movement progressions including running mechanics and ladder/hurdle drills. The mechanics and form we learned in the progressions transferred directly into all forms of training and all of us at the camp felt an immediate awareness and improvement!

I was also able to get movement and strength testing done, which helps me identify what I need to work on and what I am doing well. I was glad to have regained some hope by working with my PT’s and making good progress. I am stoked to have returned home with many different things to work on and grow from. A few of things I want to focus on this summer is building a solid strength foundation, getting a really strong core in order to protect my back, and to move in most efficient way possible through various drills I learned during camp.

When I returned from camp last week, I was able to spend some time hanging out at home with my parents as well as easy training at Stratton. Although it was easy week, there was a lot going on in Stratton between 4th of July weekend, a lot of coaches in town, and our social media contact from the U.S. Ski Team as well as a photographer.

P.S. This is my 1 year anniversary of my blog! I would love to hear some feedback:)

Spring Recap(with video)!

What happened this spring? I am starting up my blog again! After today, I plan to post one every Monday! I finished my first term of college at Dartmouth. I absolutely loved it! I headed out to Park City for a short camp. I learned about body movement and how to properly fuel for workouts.… More Spring Recap(with video)!

What a year, thank YOU!

Wow, the season is over! I don’t even know where to begin?! I faced numerous challenges this year, many more than I would have hoped for. I am however, fortunate to have had the opportunity to face and overcome my challenges successfully. They have made me stronger mentally and physically, they have taught me how […]

10 Things I learned from racing in Europe for the past 4 weeks !

Things I learned from racing in Europe for the past 4 weeks (in no particular order)… Americans have no reason to doubt that they can’t ski with the top skiers. We had multiple top 10 results at the OPA Cup races. We had multiple top 20’s at World Juniors. A German coach even came up […]

TEAM

Cross-country skiing is an individual sport but it cannot be done without a team. I think what has made this trip so successful is the team atmosphere. Often times in the past I have found that being one of the youngest ones on the trip can be hard, but this year I haven’t even noticed […]

1. Comfortable 2. Confident 3. Gritty

*Photos are on my Facebook since they will not upload for some reason. Check them out, there are a bunch! Comfortable, confident and gritty were my three cue words for World Juniors this year. Last year was my first time going to world juniors and I was so overwhelmed and intimidated. This year I went […]

World Junior Championships in Romania!

World Juniors started off with a bang in Romania! With the lack of snow, the race timeline got moved up significantly. Believe it or not, I finished both of my individual starts before the opening ceremonies had happened. I think that the unusual conditions and change in race days played to my advantage because I […]

Last week in Stratton.

It is shocking that I am heading to Europe in only 2 days and my time at Stratton is over! Between exciting activities with friends and packing, my last week at Stratton was filled with a lot of bittersweet moments. I was really glad to see that winter has finally arrived. Although the skiing on […]

The Little Things

Pushing over the top of one hill, stretching after a workout, playing a game of basketball with friends, dialing in your skis, keeping your head up… these are all the little things that can make a huge difference in summation. Whether you do one of these things or not, it probably will not change the […]

Sm;)es and Pain Faces

I let my teeth shine this week, whether I was smiling or showing my pain face. This week started off with skate speeds, usually one of my favorite workouts. Excited for the workout, I was pretty bummed to feel flat and slow during the whole workout. I kept my focus during the workout, but I […]
