Team Uniforming and the “Water Pack Crook”…

Although this training camp has not been exciting for me in terms of training, the last two days have been quite exciting in other aspects! Yesterday L.L. Bean and Craft came to camp to hand out our amazing new uniforms and explain some of the features of the gear. I can’t describe how impressed I am with both L.L. Bean and Craft as our new sponsors! Although this is only my first year on the team, I noticed how incredible these two sponsors are. I purely reached my activity goal in my Polar watch yesterday by trying on all of the clothes and uniforms.

And then we come to today, which was a very interesting day to say the least. It was my first practice with the team for this camp and I was able to do some uphill running/walking intervals. The coaches scouted out a new bounding location in Salt Lake City so we could do some lower altitude intervals. It was a very urban setting, as we bounded by a cemetery, a playground, a soccer field, and up some steep walls. The wet grass was a refreshing change compared to the usual dry, dusty dirt we usually bound up.

Water packs are known to be stolen and mistaken as lost. As I came back down the hill after my warm up, my water pack was gone. I was REALLY hoping a coach grabbed it, but sadly that was not the case. I then realized my phone was in it too! After the workout, I borrowed KO’s phone to use the “Find my IPhone” app. Thankfully, the crook was not far a way, so the boy’s group followed the app and charged towards the location with poles and sticks in their hands (they were really excited, I over heard one of them say, “I have always wanted to do this!”). After 10-15minutes, the boys came running back with my water pack containing my phone and inhaler. It turns out the man drove home and left his car unlocked with my water pack sitting right there. The boys quickly captured it and ran away. I couldn’t be more thankful for the guys team for retrieving my phone because I must admit, I would be pretty scared to follow my IPhone ping to a random location where the water pack crook is.
