I skied today at Holderness School. It was a little weird to unload the car and hook up to the Chariot with a Lacrosse game going on about 20 yards away, but in the woods the snow was actually really good. Well, with the exception of some stream crossings and one really steep section of a downhill. It is a little weird skiing down a steep hill on wet leaves with your daughter in a sled tied around your waist. A lot of fun though, this was definitely a day of skiing rather than a day to prove some point about skiing late in the year. (Keep reading, you may see a post about that in about two weeks!) There was also one minor stream crossing where I worried Iris might have gotten a bit wet, but she didn’t even wake up from her nap, so it can’t have been too bad on her.
Unfortunately with the near 70 degree weather the skiing at Holderness is done for the year. Maybe the other skier who went out today (didn’t seem they but the tracks were there over mine) will manage to ski tomorrow, but then it is really done. Waterville should have another week of real skiing and we will have to see whether it makes sense for me to take my next afternoon off two weeks from now and go skiing with it…

Justin, I think that other skier might have been me! There were one or two days when I went out and the weather was like this and I was skiing over someone’s tracks. (and I did see some chariot tracks) It’s amazing how long the snow stayed on our trails despite the hot weather in mid-spring.
