Sorry to all my fans for the late post. I ran the Cigna 5 km road race in Manchester last Thursday, and had a very solid day, finishing 9th against a field stacked with talent from Africa (by way of New York). Check out the picture of the start line - it’s a little like Sesame Street and “one of these runners is not like the others, one of these runners just doesn’t belong.”

I had a couple goals for the day, but my big goal was to set a new PR and beat my old best time of 14:52 which I set on the same course when I was 20. And I did it, running 14:50, which made me the first New Hampshire finisher. Another goal was to set a New Hampshire single age record, which I did (the previous best 31-year-old New Hampshire resident’s time for a New Hampshire 5 km was 14:55). Another goal though was to make $250 dollars, which the race organizers pay to anyone who betters 14:50. There is a chance that since they haven’t paid this bonus to an American in at least two years they will take pity on me, but then again they are a health insurance company so I am not holding my breath. But there is always next year. All I have to do is set another PR and I can get some cash.
