Can’t stay on my feet

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

That is the story of my weekend of Eastern Cup racing.
At Hanover, I had to work in the morning, and in fact I had about an hour and 35 minutes from the time I could leave school (an hour from the race site) till my start time. So I couldn’t do much warm-up, let alone preview the course. At the bottom of the first hill there is a left turn; the course can be set up so that it is a hard turn or a soft one. In the stadium it was bright sun but near the turn it was dark due to all the trees, so I didn’t know which way to go. I guessed hard left. It was supposed to be soft left. I faceplanted.

Denis Leary: Half Right

Monday, February 16th, 2009

I put on a skate clinic at Waterville Valley on Sunday, and then I was driving home, looking like I would get back earlier than promised for a change. I was listening to Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me on NPR, and they had Denis Leary on. He was riffing on how most people are stupid jerks, and I was about to prove him half right.

A good weekend
