Updates…

I have been busy. Somehow kids and a job do that to me.

So. Unlike the rest of the ski Universe, I am still in dryland mode. But with five solid interval sessions under my belt this month I am looking to ski better than I did early last season. I hope.

Oh–I found out that my 5 mile back in September was 150 yards short. So the whole of New England did not suddenly get fast, I just had a mediocre day and got beat by a bunch of people who did not mentally disintegrate when they got an unusual 3 mile split. It also means my 10 km shortly later was even more impressive, as it was far better than my revised 4 mile time predicted. But running season is months away, so I don’t need to think about that for a while.

And yesterday I was running near my in-laws house in Newport, VT, and saw the best ski trail warning sign: Gravity is in effect. Trees are hard. Ski within your ability.

First Rollerski

That’s right! As most of the Nordic world is transitioning to on snow training and breathing a sigh of relief that rollerski season is finally over, I am just breaking them out. I went for a one hour double pole on a loop that is hilly at first (when I actually had some core strength to utilize) and flat-ish later. Details of my eight-weeks-to-world-domination (or at least 8-weeks-to-not-being-embarrassed-at-Nationals) plan will follow when I get a chance.
