Bad News: After not being able to sleep until about 1 am and getting up at 6 to make breakfast, my legs were hurting this morning.
Good News: After sneaking in a quick nap between breakfast and lunch I felt well enough to do a roller ski workout this afternoon.
Bad News: I only had time to roll for an hour.
Good News: It was hotter than the sun today, so I probably shouldn’t have been out for more than an hour.
Bad News: I quickly discovered, two skateoffs into my no-pole warmup, that my homemade roller skis no longer function as skates. This discovery happened when I skated onto my right foot, and was suddenly trying to slide wood on pavement.
Good News: This shows that my skating technique, which has been making more-than-modest improvements in past weeks, was pretty solid right off the bat today.
Bad News: My skis did not allow a proper warmup or cooldown with good technique, so I opted out of both.
Good News: I had a blast double poling for 40 minutes.
Bad News: I was not in level one at all during my workout.
Good News: My also newly improved double poling felt solid today.
Bad News: I rolled right through my roller skis.
Good News: Plans are already in the works for a homemade pair of aluminum roller skis.
