Disaster has recently struck my life.  A series of events have recently turned sour.  The only conclusion I can reach is that this will be the low point in my training year.  I can only look forward to (some) things getting better.  Here is a list of all the silly things that have happened to me (including the silver lining) …1) I had horrible kick in my race (the Lakeland Loppet) last weekend, for some reason I felt like crap the whole race, and I managed to hurt my elbow pretty badly.  So, in addition to feeling crappy, I was also in pain for the second half.

I was the only female in my age group though, so I did manage to beat nobody to win a hat that says “class winner”.

2) On Sunday I spent the day waxing skis for the volunteers here at Camp to go on a ski/camping trip to ABR.  Only after waxing all their skis did I find out that most of them had decided not to go.

I guess it doesn’t hurt to have extra practice waxing skis.

3) On Sunday night I suddenly got sick and realized I wouldn’t be able to go on the trip either!  After a night hanging out with my new best friend:

and not sleeping, I was in no condition to be travelling, camping and skiing.  What a bummer.

On a positive note, all this resting has been good for the elbow that surely would have been hurting from all the skiing I would have done.

4)  The weather forecast is kind of gross for the next 10 days.  I guess winter is ending.  This is pretty sad.  I still have one race left and it would be nice to ski until then.  It’s not looking good, though.

I will be excited to start training for next year though!

In all my time sitting around the past 2 days, I have calculated my percent back from all the races I have done.  The worst two were the Pre Birkie and the Kortelopet I skied last year at 111% and 105% back.  My best were the Snekkevik and the Noquemanon this year at 53% and 57%.

I always find it very interesting to look at this stuff.  Also, I find it nice to know that all the hard work I have done in the last year has really done something!  Now, if only I could control my health and the weather…
