Smile, breathe and go slowly (except when racing~Thich Nhat Hanh

As all athletes know, here are many things that go into a season of racing. The ski mountaineering season is long, beginning in early december and ending in the 1st of May. There are moments in the season that are low points and high points, races to try to peak for and others to recover from. Juggling and balancing, especially as a mom of two young boys, is never easy but for me two things help a lot:

Breathe and Believe

Practicing yoga daily is not always possible but remembering to keep the breath even both on and off the race course really helps, especially when the going gets tough and things seem to seem to pile up when not training.

As I reflect back on my 2010/2011 season I want to graciously thank all of my supporters and sponsors who have helped me believe in this dream. Adam St. Pierre, my coach from across the pond, at Boulder Center For Sports Medicine has helped me keep my training on track. Above all I would like to thank my family; my husband  Michael of High-Alpine Mountain Guides who continues to  support  me to follow this dream and all that comes with it, and my two amazing boys who keep me smiling when the going gets tough.

Season Wrap Up:

I just counted it up…. 26 races this past season between Dec 5th and May 1st. A few highlights:

  • 2nd in French Cup
  • 3rd overall in France
  • 9th overall in World Cup
  • Grand Course Series: 6th Mezalama, 7th Pierra Menta, 8th Adamello
  • 5 other podiums in France

Training "En Famille"

Whew…that’s a lot! Now some time to recover with the family and have some summer fun!

It  is the journey that counts….
