Here and There

Monday, July 30th, 2012

Since being in California almost a month ago, I have been moving around a little bit. I was home in Fairbanks for a while, which was super nice. I was there for a couple of weeks, and did a lot of training with my brother, as well as joining up with a bunch of the young, local skiers. I was able to get in a lot of fresh, quality training, and also did quite a bit of filming for a new video project that I will be working on.

With the combination of dry, warm weather, and lots of open pavement, the riding in Fairbanks is sick. Shirtless road rides… only in Fairbanks.

I met up a bunch with Fairbanks’ FXC club , doing some training with both their elementary/middle and high-school aged groups. It’s really exciting to see how many kids are into ski racing in my hometown these days… here, I’m leading a group of gals in some stair plyometrics:

After Fairbanks, it was back to Anchorage and back with the APU homies. That week, we joined up with the REG camp for a couple of workouts. Here, after running to the top of Hatcher Pass with a group of the REG athletes ad good friends:

And then after that week of training, we headed up onto the glacier for me second camp of the summer. We had some really, really, really nice weather, and the whole week was just really sweet. I was super stoked to have my lifelong friend/training buddy David Norris up there, as well as Tyler Kornfield, Andrew Dougherty, and Eli Hoenig. We had an awesome group, and did a ton of skiing:

We also got to do a day-long photo shoot up there. It was fun to try and work with the photogs to come up with some cool shots, and to try and bring some visions of ski shots that I’ve always had to fruition. I hope to be able to post some of those shots from the photo shoot here someday. In the meantime, you can see one moment of the process; Erik B getting his male-model on:

And these three guys work endlessly to keep it rolling… There’s always a machine to fix, or trails to groom, or technique to analyze; Dylan, Flora, and Mikey. Thanks guys, you are awesome.

Now I’m in Anchorage for two weeks, getting in some more serious training. Its gonna be good…
