TUNA Rolls to the Sea

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Roller-skiing among trees dripping with moss and surrounded by ferns felt like a soggy dryland session for two Salt Lake desert dwellers.  Following a week of training at Bend with MBSEF, two of the Utah Nordic Alliance Skiers (TUNA) skiers continued to the Oregon coast.  We had the good fortune to run into Lars Flora checking out the surf at Cape Kawanda from whom we received the good advice of a roller ski training road not far from Pacific City.   Video: a six mile wet-misty hill climb on roller-skis is interwoven with evening skim boarding.
