The west coast junior ski world gathered at the 2002 Olympic Venue this weekend for the “Super Junior National Qualifier.” Both days began with the usual morning fog, and like clockwork, at 11:00, the sun burst through and provided 2 spectacular days of ski racing.

Freestyle Sprint Friday-
1st J2 Men: Max Scrimgeour won the qualifier and put on a show winning each heat and then put the smack down on the final hill going in to the finish to claim a convincing victory
3rd J2 Woman Emily Hannah- she qualified second (the first two J2 girls qualified 1st and 4th among all junior girls) and hung on for 3rd overall

The highlight of the day for us was placing 5 of top 11 in the J2 girls division. These girls push each other to improve everyday in training.

Classic distance race:
Michaela Frias, Haley Piske, and Betsy Neal (all 16 years old) finished 2,3,5 respectively in the Junior division (19 and under).
In J2 Girls, lucy newman lead the SSWSC with a 4th place finish.
