Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone is enjoying spring. EH? I have taken my two weeks off and about three weeks ago I started my bike training for the cycling season. YES, from about April to August I am a cyclist. I travel around the country with a bike bag instead of ski bag, and meet up with all of my cycling friends, who I haven’t seen since last summer. Except for Marshall Opel, Reid Pletcher, and Scot Krankalla who are my buddies in both. My first race of this season was the Tour of Walla Walla. I really did not know what to expect. Last year, I came into the TOWW with two more weeks of training, and I had already raced. The race is comprised of a 10K time trial on Sat morning, a 75mi road race in the afternoon, and a crit 1hr Sun morining.
Last year, I finished about 70th out of 100 people. This year my races actually went really well. I finished 5th in the GC, and was second in the road race. The road race surprised my because I thought I was going to fall asleep after the Time Trial because I was so tired. It was good to get back into a large pack and remember some of the old things, like moving forward, holding a wheel, taking a feed, and taking off a jacket in the middle of 100 people going down a hill at like 30MPH. My next race is Emmett Roubaix. It is in Boise and features some dirt road, which I always love. I will keep you updated. Here are some pics from Walla Walla.
