This past weekend (May 17-18th) a few SVSEF post-grad and comp team athletes kick-started the season with a mini on-snow camp up at Galena Lodge north of Ketchum. It was a beautiful weekend to train and hang in the mountains with a few sunny 75 degree days, but man was the snow going fast! While Saturdays conditions were firm and fast, on Sunday there was basically a river running underneith the six inches of old snowpack, a few dirt gaps to be jumped and a puddle skimming section on the 2km loop we groomed out in Horsecreek Meadow. It was the last chance for us to get on snow in the valley, until the team heads to Bend the second week of June.
Mikey Matteson, Taylor Sundali, Danny Sundali, Will Spiller, and Claire Bowman made it up for the weekend’s training which consisted of a distance ski Saturday morning, a road bike up Galena pass sat pm, and a some sprint relays Sunday morning. Thanks to Galena Lodge for letting crash in one of the cabins. Here’s some pictures from the weekend.
