The Sun Valley ODT squad has been on the road for the last three weeks, West Yellowstone for a week, then the past two in Silverstar B.C. Not the planned SuperTour schedule, but we, along with the other U.S. elite teams adapted. Silverstar was a pretty ideal location for early season racing and training. There were five races in eight days and you could ski from the doorstep. Having the Americans and Canadians racing together made for some strong fields and great competition. Here’s some photos from the week:
Nicole DeYong, one of Sun Valley’s ODT athletes started coming into form at the end of the week. In the 10k classic race under the lights she placed 9th, 4th American. Following this race she commented “I pushed so hard the last kilometer I could barely see.” She gave it everything.

Leif leading the train early. Mens 20 km Skate
Liz and Taz 15km Skate
Mikey Sinnot (Sun Valley/Saab Salomon Factory) battling with Haugen and Neighbor in the Mens A final in the Classic Sprint. All thirty men in the rounds were double poling on skate gear. Mikey finished third in the sprint, his best performance of the week. Overnight and during the race it probably snowed a foot, quite a difference from the bluebird a day prior.
Other top results from the team during the week were Noah Hoffman’s 6th in the 20km skate, Morgan Arritola’s 6th in the 15km individual skate, and Colin Rodgers 10th in the classic sprint.
