We received a bit of snow in Fairbanks, but not enough to ski.  Some of the guys skied on Sunday morning before the sun melted most of it.  It snowed yesterday afternoon as the team rollerskied, but not enough to actually ski on.  A cold night and cloudy day today prevented a lot of melting, so the roads and bike paths are glazed with ice and crusty snow.

This is the “in-between season” that drives skiers nuts.  Conditions are bad/dangerous for rollerskiing, but there’s not enough snow to actually ski.  The good news is that our “in-between season” in Fairbanks takes place in early October, not November or December (or January).

The CC team (which includes skiers Ray Sabo, Einar Often, Erik Soderstrom, Theresia Schnurr, Anna Coulter, Julia Pierson, Aurelia Korthuaer, and Elisabeth Habermann) heads to Honolulu next week for a cross country running meet hosted by Hawaii Pacific University.  White sand beaches, 85 degrees, and the warm Pacififc Ocean will help this “in-between season” pass by quickly. -SJ
