Sprint Norway Men

2:07 MST, A Final. Birthday boy Boerre Naess (NOR) won the men’s A Final, followed by teammates Ola Vigen Hattestad, Eldar Roenning, Anders Gloersen, and Tor Arne Hetland. Russian Nikita Kruikov finished 6th. All 6 double-poled the entire course.

WOMEN’S FINALS

Sprint Womens Winner

1:57 MST, A Final. Petra Majdic (SLO) won the women’s A Final in a photo finish with Astrid Jacobsen (NOR). Justyna Kowalczyk finished third.

Sprint Chandra Crawford

1:50 MST, B Final. Order of finish: Saarinen (FIN), Matveeva (RUS), Mischol (SUI), Ivanova (RUS), ???, Crawford (CAN).

MEN’S SEMIS
1:44 MST, Semifinal B. Ola Vigen Hattestad (NOR) and Nikita Kruikov (RUS) finish first and second. Tor Arne Hetland (NOR) earns a lucky loser spot in the A-final. Four Norwegians in the men’s A Final!
1:39 MST, Semifinal A. Boerre Naess (NOR) and Eldar Roenning (NOR) finish first and second. Emil Joensson (SWE) went with a lot of kick, and impressively moved up from last to almost first on the big uphill, but his skis were too slow on the downhill and he couldn’t break the top two.

WOMEN’S SEMIS
1:32 MST, Semifinal B. Petra Majdic (SLO) and Astrid Jacobsen (NOR) advance. Chandra Crawford (CAN) was in 2nd at the top of the last downhill, but her skis were slower than Jacobsen’s, and it looks like she may have run out of gas on the final doublepole to the finish.
1:27 MST, Semifinal A. Virpi Kuitunen (FIN) and Pirjo Muranen (FIN) advance. Justyna Kowalczyk (POL) charged hard at the end, but just missed the top two.

MEN’S HEATS
1:23 MST, fifth men’s heat. Ola Vigen Hattestad (NOR) and Bjorn Lind (SWE) advance. Sean Crooks (CAN), like Cook, was third going into the last downhill but lost a lot of time on the hill - bad skis?
1:17 MST, fourth men’s heat. Nikita Kruikov (RUS) won the heat, double-poling on skate skis. Kalle Lassila (FIN) finished second.
1:13 MST, third men’s heat. Tor Arne Hetland (NOR) and Oeystein Petterson (NOR) advance. Andy Newell (USA) finished fourth.
1:07 MST, second men’s heat. Eldar Roenning (NOR) and Emil Joensson (SWE) advance. Torin Koos (USA) broke a pole early on, and by the time he got another one was way back. Phil Widmer (CAN) tripped on the hairpin turn, and was out of the race.
1:03 MST, first men’s heat. Boerre Naess (NOR) and Anders Gloersen (NOR) advance. Chris Cook (USA) finished 4th in the heat: he was in third place coming into the final downhill, where he lost some time. Overall, Cook looked smooth and strong.

12:58 MST, lucky losers. Seraina Mischol (SUI) and Julia Ivanova (RUS) advance.
12:57 MST, fifth women’s heat. ??? and Astrid Jacobsen (NOR) advance.
12:51 MST, fourth women’s heat. Petra Majdic (SLO) and Natalia Naryshkina (RUS) advance.
12:46 MST, third women’s heat. Chandra Crawford (CAN) and Aino-Kaisa Saarinen (FIN) advance.
12:41 MST, second women’s heat. Olga Rotcheva (RUS) advances, not sure who else.
12:34 MST, first women’s heat. Virpi Kuitunen (FIN) and Justyna Kowalczyk (POL) advance.
