The author looked for the number of skiers who pulled off this impressive double victory, winning the two sprint events conscutively in the same World Cup weekend.

There have been 13 World Cup events where this would even be possible, so between men and women, 26 potential double-gold winners.

Including Petukhov, there have now been seven skiers to accomplish this.  Ola Vigen Hattestad has done it twice.

The double sprint winners:

Ola-Vigen Hattestad (Norway)
Marit Bjoergen (Norway)
Emil Jonsson (Sweden)
Peter Larsson (Sweden)
Bjorn Lind (Sweden)
Jens-Arne Svartedal (Norway)
Alexey Petukhov (Russia)

Petukhov joined an elite company, and is the first non-Norwegian or Swede to join the ranks.
