Brandsdal, Van der Graaf Take Bysprinten Titles

Norway’s Erik Brandsdal topped the men’s competition and Laurien Van der Graaf of Switzerland won the women’s race at the sixth annual Bysprinten in Mosjøen, Norway. About 30 international elites took to the 1.5 k course in the town center on Satuday.

Norway swept the podium with Ola Vigen Hattestad finishing second and Anders Gløersen placing third. The favorite who was expected to be clocked with police radar guns for his speed, Petter Northug ended up fourth in the final. His brother Tomas was fifth and Sweden’s Teodor Peterson placed sixth.

In the women’s race, Van der Graaf bested Slovenia’s Katja Višnar, who was second, Norway’s Heidi Weng in third. Norwegian Kjersti Boe finished fourth and Bettina Gruber of Switzerland took fifth.
