June 25 Daily Roundup: China Summer Ski Tour, Hatcher Pass

Friday, June 25th, 2010

–The China Summer Ski Tour went off in Inner Mongolia and Beijing earlier this week, with Swedish skiers–including World Cup sprinter Teodor Peterson–taking the majority of the top spots. According to Peterson (you can translate his blog entry by clicking on the button at the bottom), some 15 Norwegian and Swedish athletes made the trip, with began with two days of sightseeing, including a trip to the Great Wall. Then came an outdoor sprint in Mongolia, on snow that had been saved from the winter, which was followed by another sprint race in an indoor facility in Beijing.

Plans are in the works to develop a cross-country ski area at Hatcher Pass, in Alaska, by the winter of 2011.
